In September 2019, we celebrated Laboratoria’s 5th anniversary. Five years of working hard, dreaming big and learning at full speed. 2019 was a year marked by the celebration of our impact and growth, by reflecting on the challenges we’ve faced and by continuing to dream about what is yet to come.

Along with celebrating our 5 years, 2019 brought other exciting moments. Our alumnae community reached over 1,400 graduates, we took the initial steps to begin operations in Colombia, our work with organizations through our Corporate Training courses expanded, we welcomed new partners into our network of supporters, and organized our first regional hackathon.

These highlights are all tied together by our model that has come to be at the core of all we do. Through our bootcamp geared towards women, our Corporate Training courses, and even our team’s culture and values we seek to bring to life our vision for learning in the digital era. In a world that is becoming increasingly uncertain, we believe that we need more than tech skills. We need to be better critical thinkers, team-players, and problem solvers. We need to learn how to learn and become life-long learners. At Laboratoria, we work to identify people with great potential and create the learning opportunities for them to gain these skills in order to improve their future, their workplace and our region.

2020 has started with greater obstacles than we could have ever imagined. In light of the current crisis we are living due to COVID-19, and the profound changes we know it will bring to our societies, our goals for 2020 have shifted to adapt to this reality. It will undoubtedly be a challenging year, but we are a resilient organization and are certain we will be able to transform some challenges into opportunities. We believe that our work to prepare more women and organizations to work in the digital economy is more important than ever.

As we work through the challenges of a new context, we don’t want to lose sight of all we have done that has brought us to where we are today. That is why we share with you this annual report, in recognition of our 2019 efforts and accomplishments, and to invite you to continue to be part of it. We also would like to use this as a chance to acknowledge and thank all of the people and organizations that have made our work possible. We are honored to have such a strong network of support and friends who share our dream of a more inclusive, diverse and competitive digital economy in Latin America that opens opportunities for all people.  Thank you, and we hope you enjoy it!
